A fabric that looks good in a photo is not enough. What matters to a brand is that the colour is the approved one, the hand is right and there are no surprises in production. This is where trust with a supplier is won or lost, and that is why control is the part of our work we follow most closely.
Colour: written standards, instruments and an expert eye
Every colour starts from a trial approved by the client. For each client we keep written colour and hand standards, so every repeat order is compared with the same reference.
In production the comparison happens in two ways: with the spectrophotometer, which measures colour difference objectively, and in a light booth, because some differences only show under different illuminants.
And if a colour does not convince us, we have it redone. Sometimes even when it is within tolerance on the instrument, if to the eye it is not what the client expects.
Why we can afford to have a batch redone
We work tens of thousands of metres of fabric every year. That volume gives us the strength to insist that an off-standard batch is redone: a request a small brand, on its own, often cannot enforce. It is one of the concrete advantages of working with us.
The roll: metre-by-metre inspection
Before shipping, every roll is checked for:
- physical fabric defects, such as pulled threads, knots or weave irregularities;
- dyeing and printing defects, such as stains, shade differences or registration;
- colour fastness, to avoid problems with washing and rubbing.
Defects are flagged directly on the fabric with a label. That way the cutter sees them immediately and avoids them, without losing time or garments.
Hand: the check you cannot measure
Softness, drape, body: the hand of a fabric depends heavily on finishing. We check it roll by roll against the approved standard, especially on processes like sand washing or after pigment printing with heavy coverage.
Certifications and documentation
We are GOTS certified and, for dyeing, we can provide Oeko-Tex, REACH and FSC documentation. We cover this in detail in our guide to textile certifications.
